Animals In Distress (A.I.D.)
A.I.D. is dedicated to finding homes for stray/abandoned animals found in this part of Andalucia - Spain. Our animals are looked after by a network of volunteer private foster homes as well as in our own home, which helps the animals get use to a family environment. Some of the Dogs & Cats are kept in a few and temporary kennels. Please note that we do not have a Dog Centre with kennels and opening times. Our volunteer foster homes are in Alhaurin de la Torre, Alhaurin el Grande, Benalmadena, Cartama, Coin, Guaro, Mijas Costa, Monda, Yunquera and we live in Coin.

Each one of our foster homes (including our home) will look after one or several animals. In 2008 we found homes for over 260 animals, which were mainly homed here in Spain, others went to Belgium, Germany and Holland. All of our animals have a health check and if applicable they are micro chipped, vaccinated and neutered or castrated. The medical bill for each puppy or grown dog can be from 70 – 200 euros each. This amount does not include things like other operations, food, collars, leads, flights, travel boxes etc. As we do not receive any type of funding from the government or local authority, we ask for a donation towards the vetenary costs of an animal when you adopt it. We also try to raise funds by holding events as well as selling donated goods in our charity shops in Alhaurin el Grande. Our charity does not have any paying members and we are classified as ‘Animos sin lucro’, which means ‘intentions without profit’ in other words all the funds raised are used for helping the animals and none of our shop volunteers or the charity committee, which includes ourselves takes a wage.
